😵 It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Even as COVID infection rates decline, with business activity re-normalizing following restrictions imposed in December to curtail the spread of the Omicron variant, Russia's incursion into Ukraine has set the world on edge. Reports suggest African students in Ukraine face difficulties escaping the country. And yet, tech in Africa continues to see growth and investment. In this issue, we highlight developments in Africa's gaming sector, a new AI research institute in Congo Brazaville, a large incumbent's pivot to tech, and investment activity all pointing to the expanding landscape of AI opportunities in Africa.
