Editor's Note: 2024 Newsletter Recap & Highlights

A very belated happy new year! Despite being nearly halfway through Q1-2025, starting the first newsletter of 2025 without extending well wishes to newsletter readers seems a bit odd. 2024 saw AI & African Enterprises reach an even broader audience, as we doubled our subscriber base (again!) relative to 2023. The top 3 editions in 2024 were:

1. China's AI Diplomacy in Africa (October 2024)
2. Africa's DeepSea Woes (March 2024)
3a. A Closer Look at Kenya's US AI deal (July 2024), tied with
3b. African Union's Continental AI Strategy (November 2024)

While our core readership is outside Africa (according to IP addressess...), within Africa most of our subscribers are from Nigeria. In 2025, we aim to continue to contribute to a broadening of the breadth and depth of discourse around AI in Africa; and to expand our readership to more African countries. We're very pleased to expand the newsletter's readership, especially since our core focus is training AI models for African markets.

This month's issue takes a closer look at AI in African Security & Defense, especially considering AFRICOM's adoption of OpenAI solutions.
